Fenlands Vintage Country Show 2004

Another enjoyable weekend however the weather was nothing special with a stiff wind most days. Once again we were made welcome by the friendly A.V.M.E.C. bunch and once again there was some good entertainment in the beer tent.

I felt the entries were down a bit this year and it turned out that there was another Rally only about 40 miles away which could have been part of the reason.

There was, as usual plenty to see in the grand ring including traction engine driving and line dancing for the public, there was also ploughing etc. in a nearby field.

I was again disappointed this year at the number of stalls, this is never a great Rally for stalls but it seemed down again this year. All in all though, a nice relaxing weekend, well organised by A.V.M.E.C.

This is a 1922 2.5hp Amanco Hired Man driving a Woolard pump displayed by M Thrope. A very nicely restored 1914 6.5hp Blackstone Oil Engine displayed by A Baldock. A 1927 Fairbanks Morse Displayed by P Morphew. This is the first of four engines owned by Clive Richardson. This is an 1.5hp International Harvester Titan.

Another of Clive's International, this is a 1hp Tom Thumb. A .75hp Jumbo, again owned by Clive. And finally a Stover. Here is Clive, tending his engines.

A tiny little International McCormick. This is a Lister D Orchard Spraying set owned by Peter Means. A Lister driven cement mixer, still works too. A 1926 4hp Lister J displayed by N Megicks.

This interesting trailer mounted Ruston driven pump was displayed by D Pettican. A Coventry Victor. A superbly restored Allis Chalmers. This is a 1961 Fordson Super Major which has been in the Croxford family since new.

This is a 1955 Lanz Bulldog which looks like a Stationary Engine on Wheels, displayed by A Vincent. An interesting display of a small steam driven engine. This ia a very nice 1957 Triumph Tiger 100 owned by D Roberts. And a very unusual 1942 Indian 741B displayed by C Cowley.

This is a very unusual 1943 Dronning Borg, Danish, half size Thresher for use on small holdings owned by Mr & Mrs I Smith.
